Job Description:
Summary All the aspects as stated for the role player position –
specifically casualty role player. The individual must be an
amputee - missing at least one limb (arm/hand and/or leg/foot). The
Amputee role player will play a specific billet needed to fulfill
the scenario requirements based on customer needs and type of the
amputation. Job Duties Specific duties will take place at the STOPS
Tactical Training Laboratory in San Diego, CA, but on occasion
travel to a client’s location (throughout the United States and
possibly Internationally) will be required. Individuals must be
able to follow the direction of the STOPS Project Manager during
training scenarios - geared towards the accomplishment of the
Training Audience’s mission - military, law enforcement, and 1st
responder/medical provider personnel. To portray a significantly
injured person after a simulated traumatic event (explosion,
vehicle accident, etc.). Ø The Amputee role player will be able to
assume the role assigned by the Project Manager. Ø The Amputee role
player may be in the vicinity of Special Effects Pyrotechnics –
IEDs, RPGs, IDF. Ø The Amputee role player may be in the vicinity
of blank firing and/or simulated round firing weapons. Ø The
Amputee role player may be required to be interview/interrogated. Ø
The Amputee role player will be proficient in acting out the type
of wound assigned. Ø The Amputee role player will be required to
have a tourniquet applied during scenarios. Ø The Amputee role
player will be required to participate in tourniquet training.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required Ø Knowledge and experience
of specific role. Ø To be able to learn detailed medical immediate
action procedures. Ø Ability to act out specific roles as assigned.
Ø Ability to have members of the Training Audience perform
(non-invasive) immediate action procedures on them during scenarios
and other times of training. Ø Ability to respond to treatment
administered by members of the Training Audience based on the
scenario. Ø Ability to work under stressful conditions – weapons,
explosions, smoke, faux blood. Ø Must be able to tolerate tight
spaces, the dark, and all-weather conditions. Ø Ability to stand,
sit, lay in position for significant periods of time. Ø Ability to
walk unassisted – transit from one area to another. Ø Ability to
lift 20 pounds. Ø Must enjoy working with people and understand the
importance of the position. Qualifications Ø The individual must be
an amputee. Ø The ability to, read, write, and speak English is
required. Ø Specific role player qualifications are dependent on
the required role. Ø Prior role-playing experience with military,
law enforcement, and first responders/medical providers is
preferred, but not necessary. * Reasonable accommodations will
always be made.
