Job Description:
GENERAL PURPOSE:The Manager, Payroll Processing is responsible
for overseeing the operational management of the company's exempt
and non-exempt payroll processing, leave of absence processing,
off-cycle check requests, payroll tax accounting, and assisting
with controls and reporting requests as needed. This includes
responsibility for creating, managing and developing a strong team
to work effectively, while ensuring confidentiality, accuracy,
effective controls and timeliness for payroll related
documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Manage the operational aspects of payroll
including exempt, non-exempt, leave of absence, and off cycle check
processing.
Evaluate, develop and implement procedures to ensure the integrity
and stability of all payroll systems, including the production
environment, system access and support system upgrades and
conversions.
Manage the Payroll Tax function and review/audit all
reconciliations, tax filings, and W-2 issuance processes. Consult
with external and internal tax experts on complex tax related
questions and resolve payroll tax issues as required.
Ensure all established controls are executed accurately, timely and
efficiently on all system deliverables.
Support the internal and external audit processes as required.
Effectively partner and collaborate as required with other payroll
teams including payroll reporting, efficiency analytics, final pay,
payroll customer service, and project teams. Also partner with
cross functional departments and support external payroll vendor
relationships.
Establish a vision for growth and career opportunity within the
payroll department.
Develop, manage and maintain an effective Payroll team, with a
strong focus on recruiting, training, coaching and development.
Establish and document performance standards and metrics within the
payroll processing, payroll system administration and payroll tax
teams.
Assess staffing requirements and make recommendations to management
on future needs.
Drive profit improvement and process efficiencies within the
payroll department.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: 5 to 7 years of Payroll
experience required, including experience leading a team
Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field is
desired
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong managerial and analytical skills
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
Good understanding of an integrated payroll/personnel system
