We look for strong, stand-out recruits with the desire to elevate our organization and make it the best it can be for our associates, our customers and our community Position Description: The Operations Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations that occur within the facility, ensuring the facility runs efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively. The Operations Manager will be a key member of the management team and will assist in the company s vision and growth strategies, and will execute business and operations plans to achieve performance targets. This position reports to the Plant Manager. Position Responsibilities: * Plan, organize, and direct the manufacturing operations to ensure the most effective return on assets * Directly supervises Production Supervisors, foremen and production manager(s) * Confers with other departments to coordinate operations and/or activities, as needed * Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital * Assures attainment of business objectives and production schedules while insuring product standards that will exceed our customers expectations * Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports FMP s strategic initiatives * Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction, both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis, depending on need * Encourages new techniques and focus on fact-based problem solving * Strategically adjusts and balances personnel to maintain set labor efficiency targets * Implements and maintains Lean Manufacturing principles and standards and manage to 5S initiatives * Builds a cohesive, engaged team while raising the quality of personnel and creating bench strength in the organization * Work to establish management practices throughout assigned areas which include all employees positive involvement with opportunity for constructive input and action * Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes * Maintain individual skills keeping up to date with latest production and production management concepts * Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Education Requirements: * Bachelor s degree in: Business, Business Management, Engineering, or related field. Will consider an Associate Degree with significant years in a Plant/Production Manager role. Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience: * A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive manufacturing operations experience is required * Experience in the trailer industry a plus * Strong experience in implementing/managing a Lean Manufacturing environment, working knowledge of other industry best practices in process improvement such as Six Sigma and other manufacturing skills and applications * Must possess the ability to effectively lead the group through change management * Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize based on business needs * Safety conscious, goal oriented, results driven * Excellent analytical, mathematical and problem solving skills * Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills * Computer proficiency in all Windows based programs * Working understanding of SAP (preferred) * Knowledge of quality, logistics systems and inventory management * Understand business unit goals and metrics Equal opportunity employer.
