ABOUT THE POSITION The County of Riverside's University Health
System (RUHS) has an exciting opportunity for an Operating
RoomClinical Pharmacist I for the Medical Center located in Moreno
Valley, CA.The incumbent will be responsible for providing quality
pharmacy patient care supporting the medical center's surgical
teams. Pharmacists with hospital/OR experience strongly preferred.
The Clinical Pharmacists I is the first professional level in the
Clinical Pharmacist series and reports to a Supervising Clinical
Pharmacist. The Clinical Pharmacist I is distinguished from the
Clinical Pharmacist II in that the latter has advanced clinical
training and in addition to extensive involvement and oversight of
the therapeutic management of patients. Advancement to the next
level is obtained by competitive selection through an open

OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES Ensure safe and effective use of medications in
OR areaReview patient's perioperative medications for appropriate
use, dose, frequency and durationCollaborate with anesthesiologist
and surgeons for various projects and drug shortage
managementPerform medication reconciliation for high risk
medications Ensure compliance with NPSG in OR areaEnsure compliance
with Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP) guidelineWork with
nurses, physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal
patient care; provide medication consultation to other healthcare
providers and patientsAssist in the development and implementation
of new policies and procedures; prepare and conduct formal and
informal presentations to healthcare providers; participate in
training programs for other healthcare providers and performance
improvement activities as requiredParticipate and maintain quality
assurance records and assist in the maintenance of inventoryWork
with members of the medical center to ensure a cooperative work

pharmacy area MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OPTION I Education: Graduation
from a School of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council of
Pharmaceutical Education with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.
D.).Experience: One year of pharmacy residency preferred. OPTION II
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with
a bachelor's degree in pharmacy.Experience: Three years of
professional level experience as a pharmacist in a hospital or
healthcare facility. ALL OPTIONS License: a valid certificate of
registration as a Licentiate in Pharmacy issued by the California
State Board of Pharmacy and fulfillment of the continuing education
requirementsKnowledge of: Federal, Board of Pharmacy, Joint
Commission and DHS laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to
patient care and dispensing of legend and non-legend
pharmaceuticals and poisons; good customer (physicians, nurses and
patient) service; professional standards and practices.Ability to:
Provide quality pharmaceutical care; communicate clearly and
effectively; work cooperatively with other staff and healthcare
providers; organize, and manage routine and new responsibilities;
retrieve and process patient and medication information; properly
supervise and direct the work of supportive pharmacy
personnel.SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Condition of EmploymentIn
accordance with the California Department of Public Health Order
dated August 5, 2021, and amended December 22, 2021, health care
facility workers who work in indoor settings where care is provided
to patients or where patients have access for any purpose must be
vaccinated against COVID-19 as follows: first dose of a one-dose
regimen or second dose of a two-dose regimen, by September 30,
2021. Effective March 1, 2022, all healthcare facility workers must
have their booster, obtain the booster within 15 days of becoming
eligible for one, or a declination form on file for the booster.
Consideration may be given to candidates who are in the process of
completing their vaccination regimen.The Order allows for workers
to be exempt from the vaccination requirements by providing the
facility with a declination form signed by the individual stating
either of the following: (1) the worker is declining vaccination
based on Religious Beliefs; or (2) the worker is excused from
receiving any COVID-19 vaccine due to Qualifying Medical Reasons.
Workers who are exempted from the vaccination requirements must
observe all other infection control requirements, including face
coverings and regular COVID testing at the frequency required by
their work site.A requirement of employment is to provide proof of
COVID-19 vaccination, or a completed COVID-19 Vaccination
Declination form (filled out by the candidate and their medical
provider as appropriate), during the pre-employment process.
