Riverside University Health System-Medical Center's Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) is currently recruiting for an experienced Registered Nurse. The ideal candidate for this position will possess at least 3 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse, and hold a Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner certification. Candidates who do not possess this certification but have an acute care nursing background are encouraged to apply. RUHS includes the 439-bed Medical Center in Moreno Valley accredited by the Joint Commission, 10 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), specialty clinics, and the departments of Behavioral and Public Health. RUHS is a teaching organization that provides training for doctors, nurses and allied health professionals, and is affiliated with Loma Linda University, University of California System and Western University of Health Sciences. RUHS employs about 6,000 team members.The RUHS-Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center and provides high quality adult and pediatric acute care, emergency and trauma medical care, and specialized health services that include the Stroke Center and chronic disease management. The FQHCs, located throughout Riverside County, deliver comprehensive outpatient primary and preventive care. Community-based services for adults and children with mental health issues and substance abuse challenges are provided by the RUHS-Behavioral Health Department. The RUHS-Public Health Department offers a wide range of services and programs, such as disease control, children's medical services and nutrition services, to promote and protect the health of the residents of Riverside County.The RUHS is committed to the health and well-being of all communities in Riverside County.JOB DESCRIPTIONPerforms professional nursing duties in the care and services to patients and their families at the Riverside University Health System-Medical Center (RUHS-MC) or Arlington Campus; assists physicians and carries out their orders; may coordinate a continuum of care for a selected group of patients from pre-admission through post-discharge; and performs other related duties as required.The objective of this series is to establish a career ladder, which provides for professional growth through the performance of increasingly responsible and complex assignments and to recognize professional development and expertise attained through education and experience. The series is also intended to recognize individuals who have obtained work experience in a non-Riverside County setting (i.e., community hospitals or community health settings) and accept this experience as valid in considering professional abilities at the time of employment.The Registered Nurse III - Specialty Care-T1 classification performs journey level duties while applying advanced knowledge and skills in providing care and service to patients with more complex problems and needs within the following units: Adult Critical Care Unit (ACCU), Emergency Department/Trauma Services, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Labor and Delivery, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Post Anesthesia Recovery Unit (PACU), and the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) of the RUHS-MC or Arlington Campus facilities. Responsibilities are expanded to include participation in activities relating to quality assurance, policy and procedure review/revision, in-service education, staff development, and preceptorship.Assignment as a Registered Nurse III - Specialty Care-T1 is governed by Article 4, Section 3(E)(1) and Article 28, Section 1(A) of the current SEIU Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Failure to sustain the necessary requirements will result in the employee's inability to continue working and disciplinary action shall be instituted in accordance with Article 11 of the MOU.RECRUITING GUIDELINESEducation: Successful completion of the coursework required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.Experience: Three years of full time experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility or community health agency with references and evaluations to show appropriate skill level. (A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a national certification in a nursing specialty may be considered as a substitution for one year of the required experience. A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing may be considered as a substitution for two years of the required experience.)Knowledge of: Current principles, techniques and procedures used in professional nursing; medical terminology and patient care routine appropriate to clinical setting; medical instruments and equipment; the uses and effects of medicines and narcotics; community resources available to provide patient care and follow-up; federal, state and local laws and regulations governing professional aspects of nursing; identification of potential discharge needs; payor source documentation requirements and governmental regulations affecting reimbursement.Ability to: Perform the full range of nursing duties and responsibilities in a patient care setting; plan and organize nursing plans for patients; prepare and maintain concise and complete records and reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients and fellow employees; secure the cooperation of employees to work effectively together; assist in the instruction of entry-level nurses and ancillary personnel; keep abreast of developments in area of nursing specialization; evaluate the medical records of hospital admissions; make recommendations regarding continued stay necessity; identify discharge needsOTHER REQUIREMENTSLicense/Certificate: Must possess and maintain a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.Possession of valid BLS , ACLS & PALS.WORK SCHEDULEThe work schedule for this position is 3/12-hour night shifts, including weekends.WHO MAY APPLYThis recruitment is open to all applicants.Applicants who are current County of Riverside employees and/or current employees of the Department/Agency may be considered before other applicants depending on the volume of applications received.Qualified applicants may be considered for future vacancies throughout the County.APPLICATION PERIODThis position will remain open until filled.Applications received prior to the closing date will be considered based on the information submitted.
