The Supervisor, Quality will support General Assembly, Body Shop, Paint Shop, and Warehouse.  They will lead a team of Quality inspectors/ CMM Operators. Under the direction of the Director of Quality and Safety, the Supervisor, Quality will have knowledge of: Lean Manufacturing, Team interaction within and outside the department, report writing, CMM programing, dimensional management, SAP, Aluminum MIG welding inspection, SPR riveting inspection, automotive exterior paint, power tool torque inspection, Aluminum metal finishing Black belt problem solving and other quality engineering practice.


• Lead a team of inspectors in the General Assembly, Paint Shop, Body Shop and Warehouse.
• Learn and follow Karma Quality Inspection Standards.
• Lead and practice Kaizen.
• Cover Final Process Audit process when needed.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Supplier Quality, After Sales, and Plant-specific Area Managers (BIW, Paint, and General Assembly) to identify and resolve Quality issues and concerns.
• Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
• Support Quality Specialists in response to customer claims and concerns by using verbal, written, and graphical communication tools.
• Support Quality Specialists in developing new scrap reduction projects and follow-up on already implemented projects.
• Support Plant Quality Manager/Director in quality planning, quality reporting, and issues following through.
• Apply PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) across areas within quality operations.
• Drive and empower BIQ (built in quality) philosophy and practice.
• Approves employee’s time worked in the time and attendance system
• Other responsibilities assigned by management.


BS – Quality/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years working in quality engineering in the automobile manufacturing, aerospace, or related industry.
• Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
• Knowledge of CMM preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in 5S methodology.
• Problem solving skillset, A3 thinking
• Experience in dealing directly with customer, supplier, or shop floor quality complaints or issues.
• Able to read and understand product prints.
• Proven supervisory experience and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in computer systems (Microsoft Office apps + statistical software).
• Proven understanding of process capabilities.
• Basic understanding of Lean manufacturing principles.
• Ability to work under minimum supervision
• Experience in SAP is preferred
• Greenbelt is required, Black belt preferred
• Experience/ exposure is required
o dimensional management
o Aluminum MIG welding inspections
o SPR riverting inspection
o Powere tool torque inspection
o Aluminum metal finishing

• Ability to Use or operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer etc.

• Ability to see or detect, identify, recognize or Assess surroundings while in the office or warehouse areas
• Ability to bend, turn and stoop occasionally
• Ability to sit or be stationary for extended continuous periods of time
• Ability to stand for prolongued periods of time
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds

 

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend approximately 20% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in an office environment and 80% of the time in the warehouse. When working in the warehouse it requires the use of personal protective equipment including (but not limited to) steel toe shoes, bump caps, safety goggles, reflective colored vest.
