Job Description:
Title Clinical Lab Scientist - Blood Bank Schedule - Weekdays:
04:00 AM – 12:30 PM (8-hr AM) - Weekends: 06:00 AM – 14:30 PM -
Weekend expectation: May exceed every other weekend to meet
department needs. Requirements - California CLS license - BLS
certification - Minimum of 2 years of experience, with at least 1
year in blood bank - Experience with massive transfusions and
trauma workflows - Familiarity with hematology and chemistry -
Experience with Epic EHR Roles & Responsibilities - Perform
laboratory tests and analyses, ensuring accuracy and adhering to
quality standards. - Conduct blood bank operations, including
ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening/ID, crossmatching, and DAT
procedures. - Participate in massive transfusion protocols and
transfusion reaction workups. - Collaborate effectively with
clinical staff to ensure appropriate and timely patient care. -
Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, ensuring all are in
working order. - Stay updated with laboratory procedures and best
practices. Compliance / Notes - Must commit to working 3 of the 5
listed holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New
Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day). - Travelers are expected to float
between facilities; refusal may result in termination/forfeiture of
guaranteed hours. - Two supervisory references covering 1 year
within the last 3 years are required during compliance. -
Orientation and compliance documents must be completed prior to
start.
